Dahlias - This is an original watercolour painted in 2005.

I decided to plant some annuals in amongst the perennials in my backyard garden one year. These beautiful dahlias were the result. They were so vibrant and full, I couldn't resist them.

They became the inspiration for this painting. I tried to capture the dense foliage that had grown all around as well as a brand new bud just emerging.
